Mik Van Gaever has dedicated his career to the closing the loop for the packaging materials value chain. He has been working for 25 years at Fost Plus, the organization for the recycling of household packaging in Belgium, where, as COO, he oversees all the field operations. Mik Van Gaever is passionate about innovation in order to upgrade the collection, sorting and recycling technology and to bring the partners together in an effective ecosystem.
Since 1994, Fost Plus has been accelerating the transition towards sustainable packaging management. Citizens are at the heart of an approach aimed at preventing raw materials from becoming waste. To this end, Fost Plus sets up efficient structures to ensure correct sorting anytime, anywhere, works with its members on packaging design with a view to improving recyclability, and rethinks the way we all handle (packaging) materials.
Fost Plus works closely with citizens, businesses, public authorities and experts to collect and recycle the household packaging placed on the market by its members. In doing so, the organisation fulfils the Extended Producer Responsibility obligations of its members. 60 dedicated colleagues are committed to influencing behaviour so as to keep the environmental impact of the way we produce and consume as low as possible. By building sustainable material chains, Fost Plus contributes to a better society and a cleaner living environment for everyone.
